The first is the atmos­phere cre­at­ed by those baobab trees. They are enor­mous, ancient, and com­plete­ly unex­pect­ed in a beach resort set­ting. Walk­ing through the grounds in the evening with the amphithe­atre enter­tain­ment start­ing up in the back­ground and the Indi­an Ocean vis­i­ble through the trees — it is a spe­cif­ic feel­ing that you do not get at a stan­dard beach hotel.

The sec­ond is the Pori­ni Amphithe­atre. I have sat through many resort enter­tain­ment pro­grammes that feel per­func­to­ry. The Baobab team’s shows are gen­uine­ly good — high ener­gy, cul­tur­al­ly engag­ing, and dif­fer­ent enough from night to night that guests who stay a full week rarely feel they are see­ing the same thing twice. That com­mit­ment to evening enter­tain­ment makes a real dif­fer­ence on longer stays.

One prac­ti­cal thing I tell every client before they go: con­firm your wing in writ­ing and, if you have a view pref­er­ence, state it clear­ly at the time of book­ing. The resort is large and the three wings are very dif­fer­ent in char­ac­ter. Tak­ing two min­utes to be spe­cif­ic saves the dis­ap­point­ment of arriv­ing and find­ing your­self in the wrong loca­tion with­in the prop­er­ty.

And if you are going between April and July 2026, the Baobab Wing post-ren­o­va­tion is gen­uine­ly excel­lent — some of the most thought­ful­ly updat­ed rooms I have seen in a Kenyan beach prop­er­ty at this price point.
